I've just about quit feeding the birds because I am so frustrated with the thieving squirrels... I have one more idea to try... my yard is a bit too tiny and there are too many places from which they can jump onto the feeders for baffles to work for me. In the meantime, I got a chuckle out of your post and hope by now your Thrashers are used to the baffles.Victoriahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12170129859014155605noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7653157038282170244.post-14315048521342051342010-06-02T00:18:01.188-04:002010-06-02T00:18:01.188-04:00It took well over a year before they discovered my...It took well over a year before they discovered my suet feeder. But they do go to my other feeder and so far have not bothered my suet. And yeah they do make great gravy as well as good meat. :-)Stevehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06392833185395761082noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7653157038282170244.post-73824851530000270012010-06-01T23:37:25.915-04:002010-06-01T23:37:25.915-04:00Ruth, I have heard about the slinky trick. Squirrels are quite smart.

Out on the Prairie/Steve, I shudder at the thought of eating a squirrel.:) The yellow mesh feeder is only squirrel "resistant" which means it is only harder for them to get the seed and they can't chew it since it is metal.

Country Mouse, Boy do I relate! They are rascals.

Glenna, This morning the Blue Jays and Cardinals finally visited the suet feeder. The Brown Thrashers were wishing to go to the feeder but were baffled by the baffle. Hopefully they overcame their fear while I was at work.jeanlivingsimplehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08820800238853344959noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7653157038282170244.post-27472709865298494322010-06-01T15:19:10.166-04:002010-06-01T15:19:10.166-04:00Hi Jean,

He chattered all the time. I'm glad we don't have any here.Carole Barketthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18068078540295273489noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7653157038282170244.post-31279084148450960772010-06-01T09:17:33.708-04:002010-06-01T09:17:33.708-04:00I thought we had traded recipes of fried with crea...I thought we had traded recipes of fried with cream gravy.HA!I got feeders that are squirrel proof, but they still find a way.I just buy more seed and only place the suetin baskets.
