I've seen very few birds in my garden this winter :( They say it's because it's been so mild and there's plenty of food for them out in the countryside. Think that's probably true as the blackbirds, sparrows and blue tits did come back briefly last week and the week before when the temperatures were lower.
ReplyDeleteWe have plenty of insects out and about for the birds to eat. So it has been very slow at my feeders this winter.
DeleteHi Jean, I am counting this weekend too. I like your cute owl tree topper. Very cute. Happy Birding!
ReplyDeleteI will check out your blog to see your count results.
DeleteThanks and Happy Birding to you!
I was going to say the same as Judy. I haven't seen many birds this winter at all.
ReplyDeleteLove that owl
I think many of us are having a warm winter.
DeleteThanks!
It's down to the fact that your blog inspired me to start feeding the birds, that they are doing well in my garden!
ReplyDeleteYou just made my day! Happy Birding to you!!!
DeleteI have participated in this before and wanted to again this year, but the birds are not interested. I have virtually no birds around. :(
ReplyDeleteI didn't have many birds to count. At least I did have a flock of Cedar Waxwings visit.
DeleteOH I didnt know I'll have to count mine anyways and then look up the link.
ReplyDeleteHope you had a good count Sondra!
DeleteAGAIN, ME TOO, EXCEPT THIS PAST WEEK I'VE SEEN MY BLUE JAY, MORNING DOVE, SPARROW AND MY MOCKING BIRD COUPLE AND A THIRD ONE. NOW THEIR GONE AGAIN. WHAT'S UP WITH THAT?
ReplyDeleteGRANNY
Granny, They come and they go here too. The warm weather is to blame.
DeleteI haven't seen a Blue Jay in weeks!
We have recently has our Big Garden Birdwatch in the UK Jean.. It's a wonderful thing to do...
ReplyDeleteTake care.
It's good to learn that y'all also have a Bird Count event!
DeleteGlad you mentioned the birdwatch. Now that owl is something that might sit still long enough for me to photograph
ReplyDeleteMy owl is very co-operative.:)
DeleteWin the contest Jean! I know you can!:)
ReplyDeleteThe competition is high. My pictures were too large for them so I'm not entering the contest this year.
DeleteThanks!
Not many birds here in the yard this winter because it's been so mild I guess. Thanks for the reminder.
ReplyDeleteYou are Welcome!
DeleteYou live in such a great birding area...it's great that you are contributing to this effort. (We don't have many birds in our backyard here in Florida -- some year I hope I will remember to make plans to go to one of our birding areas.)
ReplyDeletePast years have been better. Like 3 years ago when it snowed for the GBBC.
Delete"The Joys of Bird Watching and Living a Simple Life" has been included in this weeks A Sunday Drive. I hope this helps to attract even more new visitors here.

Thanks for including my blog in your Sunday post!
DeleteWe don't have many birds at our feeder either. I think it is just too warm this winter and the birds are finding the food all on their own.
ReplyDeleteI am surprised at how many regions are having a warm winter.
DeleteThat is a very special bird you found there!
ReplyDeleteI thank my dear niece for that special bird. :)
DeleteLove the little owl. I saw something very similar on a wreathe not so long ago. It is a very mild winter, 52 degrees today, 59 tomorrrow and 66 on Thursday here in Northern Virginia.
ReplyDeleteI love this owl. It has found a year-round place in my living area.
DeleteYep...warm here in Georgia. Don't know what to think.
