I don't like bitter cold temps but our warm winter weather has been crazy. It is odd to have flies in January. Well last night dipped down into the teens. One cat slept under the covers and one on top. So it was a Two Cat Night. We all were warm in my small abode. Now I just hope my flowers that were up early survived.
For a couple of days the number of birds increased at my feeders so I knew we were getting a blast of cold from the North. I trust my birds more than Weather persons to predict the weather. Birds are never wrong.
Just a few recent feathered visitors....

yes I think you're on the money re looking to nature for weather predictions. I love each of your bird shots today; we are wealthy in that we admire them so and can receive the joy of watching out for them
ReplyDeleteI like your comments.
DeleteThanks Carole!
I think you are right about the birds predicted the weather. Probably better than our weathermen. Great birds and I enjoyed the photos.
ReplyDeleteThe birds are always right.
DeleteThanks Eileen!
Birds can sense when we are going to get cold weather? I didn't know that. Interesting, sandie
ReplyDeleteThey can sense bad storms also. I watch them when we are under a tornado watch or warning. They know when to leave the area.
DeleteOMG. ONE OF MY VERY FAVORITE IS THE ROBIN. THANKS FOR PUTTING HIS SWEET FACE ON HERE. I MISS THEM SO MUCH LIVING IN THE DEEP SOUTH I NEVER GET TO SEE THEM ANYMORE.BEING A NEW YORKER FROM WAY BACK IT'S JUST NICE TO SEE ONE.
ReplyDeleteGRANNY
They never leave in winter. You should also have them year-round in FL.
DeleteYou've got some great visitors there. Love the robin.
ReplyDeleteThanks Dina!
DeleteSo that's where our robins are!!
ReplyDeleteIt got cold here too. Funny how the birdies and squirrels just know.
So very true Lin.
DeleteYes,colder weather does bring out the birds.
ReplyDeleteYou should know my Canadian friend.:)
DeleteHere in Idaho we are starting to get a little winter now that it is supposed to be about over. Weird weather this year has brought in weird birds.
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures.
Goodness...didn't realize Idaho was also having a mild winter!
DeleteThe numbers in my yard picked up too when the cold air arrived. Some of plants got the frost for sure...its going to be a drab spring I fear.
ReplyDeleteSome of my flowers were frost-bitten. Dang-it.
DeleteThe weather is up and down here Jean. Glad to see the birds in your backyard. Boom sends his best. Boom & Gary of the Vermilon River,Canada.
ReplyDeleteThanks Gary and Boom! :)
DeleteIt got down to 40 here in Ft Myers even! Brrr (for here that's really cold)....I remember in Oregon where the birds would be very active just before a heavy rain . We just need to watch them and not bother about the weather channel huh?
ReplyDelete40 sounds good after experiencing the teens!
DeleteThe birds do that here also. Yep Sallie just watch the birds and forget that weather channel!
The photos are very wonderful. Bird watching is definitely a great experience, but if you will try to involve yourself with bird feeding, you will realize that it brings more fun and joy for both you and the birds.
ReplyDeleteWell said Chelle!!!!
DeleteThanks!
Happy Valentines Day, Jean. BIGGEST HUG from a warm country in Asia. :)
ReplyDeleteJP...I wished I was in your Warm area!:)
DeleteHope you had a Happy Valentines Day as well.
JEAN, THE PURPLE ON BLACK IS HARD TO READ WHO'S POSTING OR MAYBE IT'S MY OLD EYES.
ReplyDeleteTHE PAST WEEK IS THE FIRST I'VE SEEN BIRDS IN MY BACK YARD IN WEEKS. I REALLY NEED GRAMPS TO PUT UP A FEEDER FOR ME.
GRANNY
Granny, I tried to fix the problem and it looks like I added some color in other areas of my blog. Dang...let me know if there is any improvement.
DeleteSuper! I'm so glad your birds are back!!! Keep me posted.
Some winter! I know it's all relative, but I can't get too excited about winter that looks like that.
ReplyDeleteYou and your birds certainly have a peaceful place to dwell!
ReplyDeleteYou have some wonderful birds Jean...
ReplyDeleteIt's so lovely to see all your feeders filled.
I bet they all flock to your garden.
Take care xx
As always, your visitors are wonderful! It seems most of us had a very strange winter. Apart from the Siberean cold wave that hit us for a few days, I don't remember suh hot and dry January and February here. Actually this country is already facing major problems regarding the drought and forest fires... in winter!
