I blame the weather more than Hawks for keeping the songbirds from visiting my bird-feeders.
Carolina Wren
Northern Cardinal/Mourning Dove/Northern Cardinal
American Goldfinch/Carolina Chickadee/American Goldfinch
I was amazed to see male American Goldfinch in January!
He has his Summer Coat (feathers) already!!!
Wishing Peace,Health,Wealth,and Love to ALL!!!

the Goldfinch is a really beautiful bird. I'm amazed at the variety of bird-feeders available over there. There obviously is a wonderful market happening and lots of people seeing to their welfare through the cold winter months. Good to know! Where to you get these feeders from, hardware stores, pet-stores, department stores?
ReplyDeleteI love seeing a feeder with different species on it -- somehow that always seems so special. Hope a sudden cold spell doesn't hurt those birds that think it's summer already!
ReplyDeleteAs a birdwatcher myself, your blog caught my eye. I saw an American Goldfinch this morning but couldn't get to my ca,era in time. I thought it a little early in the year for them to be arriving.I enjoyed your blog and the photos.
ReplyDeleteThe weather has been downright crazy, I bet it has the birds just as confused as we are
ReplyDeleteWe get to keep some goldfinches, but they are drab in the winter.
ReplyDeleteCarol, We have many stores that sell birdfeeders ie Walmart and Feed Stores. My favorites are homemade.
ReplyDeleteSallie, My hope also.
Welcome Bettie! Many times I can't get my camera aimed in time either. Thanks for your comment. Happy Birding!
Ann, Yep...you're right.
Sharkbytes, Usually they are drab here also in winter.
This weather has been crazu here - nothing is as it should be. Love, sandie
ReplyDeleteME too!! I think they are confused by the warm weather...I did see some female goldfinch at the feeder a day ago...they are normally here all winter!!
ReplyDeleteI actually saw some plants coming up in the yard. ugh. I think we are all confused by this warm winter!
ReplyDeleteChatty Crone, You know it is like a roller coaster temp wise. Love to you!!!
ReplyDeleteSondra, Heck...I'm confused also. Mother Nature is being very moody.
Lin, Dang...I have plants up as well. Yep we are all confused.
I agree the weather is strange everywhere but those are beautiful shots. I've heard a lot of people complain about a lack of birds at feeders
ReplyDeleteReckon many are experiencing a lack of bird activity during unusual warm spells this winter. Thanks!
DeleteHow can you be so accurate in aiming your camera to the right subject, Jean? Great photos!:)
ReplyDeleteI would like to give you a nice technical answer...but can't. Dang...I just point and shoot.:)
DeleteHi jean, I am happy that the hawk has left your yard. Now your sweet birds can have some peace. Great photos. Have a wonderful day.
ReplyDeleteI believe he is lurking. Have to say he misses most of the time.
DeleteThanks...Hope your day was great!
MY BIRDS ARE JUST GONE. MAYBE THEY DON'T LIKE THE SOUTH.
ReplyDeleteDARN.
GRANNY FROM FLORIDA
Hi Granny!!! They are loving the South...because we have bunches of bugs for them to eat.:)
DeleteA lovely post Jean..
ReplyDeleteI hope alls well with you and all your wonderful birds.. xx
Thanks! XX back.:)
DeleteSnowdrops are up and daffodils! I had to cut the grass today, mid January! Some birds are acting like they want to build nests! Hope they don't get caught out.
ReplyDeleteWHAT??? You had to cut grass??? Whoa...hope the birds don't start nesting.
DeleteIt's been very warm here in Dublin this winter, well compared to last winters crazy snowing. Lovely photo's of the birds. Have a nice day! Eva
ReplyDeleteThanks for the visit and follow. I visited your blog and am most impressed with your talent!!!
DeleteI like seeing all the different birds. I wish I'd see some around here, but I keep going out at the wrong times, and they don't stick around very long here in the cold.
ReplyDeleteRatty, Do you have feeders? Birds need 3 things...Food,Water,and Cover. Provide these and they will come. Trust me.:)
DeleteGreat selection of birds!! Boom & Gary of the Vermilon River, Canada.
ReplyDeleteThanks Gary! Give Boom a hug from me.
DeleteWhat a lovely array of bird feeders and your birds are there at the ready. We still have quite a few members of the crow family hanging around and it keeps many of the smaller birds quite wary. We do have one small bird that sings at the top of one of the apple trees which we are still trying to identify (it's not always easy to be certain when song and feather do not appear to match up).
ReplyDeleteLearning to ID birds by their songs/calls is an ongoing challenge for me. Hope you will ID your bird.
DeleteJust dropped by again to say hello -- hope you're doin' OK out there and seeing (and hearing) lots of birds. I have a terrible ear (for music, birdsong, whatever) so IDing by sound is an unattainable goal for me. Look forward to hearing more about it from you.
