Sometimes it is a struggle to find time to play with my camera. Usually I just set it on AV or Auto and snap away. I decided it was time for me to experiment with the Manuel setting last weekend while bird watching in my yard. This is a shot I got at dusk of a male Northern Cardinal on the Shepperd's Hook.
Minutes later I got this shot of two Chipping Sparrows upset because a third one landed on the middle perch. The two apparently didn't wish to share the seed. They are fun little birds to watch.
Check out World Bird Wednesday to not only see Springman's splendid bird photography but to see the many talented participating birding blog from around the world!
Wishing.....Peace, Love, Health, Wealth, and Love to ALL!
PS....I will be using the Manuel setting more often in the future. Learning is fun!

That cardinal shot is awesome!! We're getting our summer visitors around here now...will be fun to see some new faces.
ReplyDeleteHello Jean. Love the shot of the cardinal, it is very artistic. I was wondering since you are a gardener with native plants if you would look at the list of plants I have on my site and maybe you would have some good suggestions for me. http://louisvillenaturally.blogspot.com/p/list-of-plants-for-birds.html I'm just getting started with gardening for birds and it is interesting to see which plants the birds really take to and which they don't. Take care.
ReplyDeleteLovely.I especially like the Cardinal at dusk.
ReplyDeleteLove the cardinal - it glows against the dark background.
ReplyDeleteYour Cardinal is a lovely bird to see. Beautiful images Jean many thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI used to always use my camera on the manual setting but I've gotten lazy and it's been on auto for quite some time. I really should do more playing and practicing with manual.
ReplyDeleteThat first shot is gorgeous and how fun those sparrows must have been to watch
Sondra, It is nice to see the nesting birds from SA. I'm excited!
ReplyDeleteRyan, I will happily take a look at your site and native plant list. It is wonderful that you wish to garden for wildlife!
Thanks Ruth!
Rebecca, I was surprised how this photo turned out. Hope I can repeat it.:)
Andrew, It is my pleasure to share my birds!
Ann, Maybe when we retire we will have more time to play. Thanks and yes they are.:)
I do like the Cardinal against the dark background! Playing around with the camera and its various settings are a great way to learn. Well done!
ReplyDeleteThe nighttime shot of the cardinal is beautiful, please keep experimenting with the camera and post some more great night shots Jean.
ReplyDeleteI love the little chippies! I should try the manual on my camera more. Nice shots.
ReplyDeleteGreat shots! I love the manual setting if there is a little time to set up too. My next favorite is the Tv setting (shutter speed) set to 1/1600 for Birds in flight. Dslr photography is no joke, it's tough stuff but just look at the great results!
ReplyDeleteLovely shot of the Cardinal, well done! The Chipping Sparrows are cuties. I am starting to see them in my yard now.
ReplyDeleteVery cool spotlighting on the cardinal!
ReplyDeleteI love the lighting with the cardinal that gives him the full attention he deserves! :)
ReplyDeletePat, Hope I will improve!
ReplyDeleteRyan, I will dang try to post better photos.:)
Shark, Thanks for liking my Chippies. They are a hoot to watch!
Springman, Major thanks for sharing the settings you use for your amazing captures!
Thanks Eileen!
Pat, I appreciate the comment.
Kristi, Glad you enjoyed my effort.:)
Those are great shots,I need to play with my manuel settings more often on my camera.Years ago I took classes on this but cameras have changed so much I don't know if that would be the same now or not.
ReplyDeleteHave a blessed day
How do you get your photos so beautifully clear? Mine always look kind of drab in comparison. Perhaps I need to switch off auto. Keep up the good work. You seem to be blessed with wild life.
ReplyDeleteI just loved the shot of the Cardinal. It was fantastic.I have to do some experimenting with my camera also.
ReplyDeleteCarolina Nana, I could use a photo class. There is much I don't know about my digital camera.
ReplyDeleteDon't unplug your hub,I owe much to my camera. Thanks for the visit!
Russ, Thanks for the complement!
