World Bird Wednesday IV

Is it a House Finch or a Purple Finch??? These birds are easily confused. Hopefully, my pictures will help in clearing up the confusing between these two pretty birds.  House Finches are year-round birds here in the Southeast but Purple Finches only visit us in the Winter. Recently...I was blessed with a few Purple Finches.

Notice the raised crown feathers on this male Purple Finch.

Now lets take a look at a male House Finch. It is interesting that House Finches will visit a suet feeder but I have yet to see a Purple Finch do so.  Can you see the differences?

Now....let's hear it for the females! I feel very lucky to get this shot of both a female House Finch (on the left) and a female Purple Finch (on the right) at my feeder! Notice that the female Purple Finch has a white eye stripe.

Please check-out the other sites that share their Birding Adventures by clicking this link: World Bird Wednesday.  You will not be disappointed!!!

Wishing All....Peace, Health, Wealth, and LOVE!  (BTW....Still Smoke-Free!)
